Wednesday June 30th, League Match V Finchley

NMCC 130/6  Z.Azom  54, C.Yorke-Starkey 34, W.Cracknell 20  defeated Finchley 97, J.Bridgland 2.1-0-10-3, O.Turrell 4-0-28-3, K.Pittman 4-1-14-2, C.Yorke-Starkey 3-0-16-2

In what was probably one of the best performances i have ever seen from a colts cricket team, NMCC clinically destroyed Finchley.  Zulfy & Charlie getting us off to a great start with an 88 run partnership, unfortunately followed quickly by Joe & Alistair, with Will A-F & Will Crackers steadying the ship. Difficult shot of the day choice between Charlies down the ground 6 or Will Crackers cut shot between two fielders only 2 yards apart. I thought our 130 a little shy since the ground so big and outfield so dry, but it proved plenty. So, on to the bowling, fielding bit, & bowl & field we did. Opening the bowling with Ollie & Nick, Ollies pace good but driven when slightly over pitched, & Nick only conceding 13 off his 4 wicketless overs! Charlie came on after Ollies first 2 overs & picked up the first wicket. Kyle replaced Nick, and in his second over, a double wicket maiden, he removed the dangerous Oscar Emmanuel. Ollie came back on and took 3 wickets in his last two overs & Joe came on and literally blew away the tail & the number 5 who was keeping it all together. A really brilliant display, only 1 wide and some brilliant keeping from Arthur with two classic caught behinds and denied a stumping which was not given, (but was out) from where i was sitting.

Once again, brilliant.

Nat West under 15 Club Cricket Championship, 2nd round

Hampstead 83/5  (17 overs) lost to NMCC 84/3 (13.1)

K.Pittman  3-0-8-4, Z.Azom 3-0-9-1, Z.Azom 30 not out, Jonny Bennett 30 not out

Twas a dark & stormy night, so the match was reduced to 17 overs. We won the toss & chose to bowl as we seemed to have a bowling heavy side. Jonny Bennett & Zulfy went hard at 'em making scoring difficult with good pace & length. From memory, i remember Akil digging out 3 Jonny yorkers in a row. However, Hampstead weren't losing wickets, but scoring was slow. Joe Bridgland was brought in to the attack and produced some serious heat with some good bouncers & his usual variety, unfortunately, no wickets. Nick Friend came on and only went for 2 runs off his first 2 overs, but his next 2 went for 22. Still no wickets. KP was brought in to the attack and 1st ball of his second over got the important wicket of Akil. In his 3rd over there were a further 3 wickets & Zulfy picked up a wicket in his last over. Hampstead only able to score 17 runs off their last 4 overs.

We opened with Zulf & Will Crackers but Will was out in the 2nd over, followed by Ali in the 3rd & Joe in the 5th. Jonny Bennett & Zulfy then put  on a 52 run partnership to take us to victory. Jonny playing a swashbuckling innings with upper cuts, under cuts & good old fashioned cuts. Zulf played the field after injuring himself and finishing his innings with a runner.

A good start to the National Championship of 2010.
