Welcome
Welcome to North Midd for the 2011 Season. To keep this Newsletter as short as possible there are lots of cross references to North Midd’s excellent website www.northmiddlesexcc.co.uk . This contains stacks of Colts’ info, including:
- Fixture list and match timings
- Kit list and prices
- Contact lists for Age Group Managers
- Links to Colts’ League Tables
- Coaching cards, drills and guide notes e.g. on choosing bat sizes
- One to one coaching – how to fix sessions with Darren Eckford
- Senior cricket at North Midd
Subscriptions / Registration Forms
- Subscriptions for 2011 will be £50 each for all Colts (Girls and Boys) except for Pre Colts (i.e .born after 01.09.04) who will pay £40 each. We have stopped pay per play drop in sessions.
- No match fees are payable for outdoor games (league, cup or friendlies).
- Registration Forms have been emailed to existing members and will be sent to those on the waiting list when places become available.
- Others wanting to join should email Susie Nicoll (susie.nicoll@blueyonder.co.uk) who will then send out a Form when we know we have capacity.
- The deadline for existing members and others who have received forms to pay subs and preserve their priority is the Registration Evening on 15th March - see below.
- We need a completed form for ALL Colts (including Pre-Colts). Please return your completed Registration Form and subs to Susie Nicoll (address on form).
- Cheques should be made payable to ‘North Middlesex Cricket Club Limited’.
- In relation to subscriptions/registrations please note –
- No Colt will be eligible for selection for any North Midd fixture unless his/her sub has been paid.
- Under Middlesex Colts Association Rules once a Colt is registered for one club he/she will not be entitled to play for any other Club in any MCA competitions for that season or the following indoor season.
Donations
- The Club is always looking to improve the coaching and practice aids we can offer to Colts.
- Any donations (however small) will be most welcome. These donations should be in the form of cheques made payable to ‘North Middlesex Cricket Club Limited’ and also sent to Susie Nicoll with a completed Gift Aid Form.
- North Midd is a company limited by guarantee and has Community Amateur Sports Club status. This is akin to charitable status so that any donations to the Club qualify for Gift Aid relief. North Midd receives an extra 28p for each pound donated if the Gift Aid form is completed.
Coaching / Practice Sessions
- We are experimenting with some minor changes to timings aimed at reducing mayhem at the 10.30 changeover:
- U7s to and including U11s (01.09.99 – 31.08.04) - Saturday mornings 8.45am to 10.20am
- Pre Colts (born after 01.09.04) - Saturday mornings 9.30am to 10.30am
- Girls – Saturday mornings 9.00am to 10.30am
- U12s to and including U15s (01.09.95 – 31.08.99) - Saturday mornings 10.30am to 12 noon
- U16s and U17s (01.09.93 – 31.08.95) - Tuesday evenings between 5pm and 6pm and continuing with Seniors.
Please note that allocation of Colts to squads for practice sessions may take into account ability and experience as well as age.
Please try to be at the Club 10 minutes before the allotted start time. Time is short and our coaching teams are keen to make the most of it by starting promptly.
Please ensure that your Colt has signed in with his/her Manager/Coach at the start of each session.
Contact details for Managers/Coaches of the various age groups are on the Website.
If the weather is doubtful on a Saturday morning, parents should check with the relevant team manager that the practice is definitely on before leaving their son/daughter at the Club. Parents/Carers should also be prepared to collect early if the weather deteriorates.
Coaching cards and other materials illustrating the skills we teach the Colts are on the website so you can carry on practising at home.
Team Selection for Matches
- This will be organised by your colt’s age group Managers who will pass on their selection policy and arrangements separately.
Registration / Getting Involved Evening /Sale of North Midd Cricket Kit
Tuesday 15th March at The Pavilion 6-8pm
- All Registration forms from those with membership priority need to be returned at or before this event – see above.
- This event will also be an opportunity to meet age group Managers.
- North Midd is run entirely by volunteers and we are always looking for Parents, Carers, grandparents and others willing to help with running our Colts in some way (e.g. coaching, taking the register on Saturday mornings, scoring, umpiring, selling kit, fund raising, organising social events, publicity/liaising with local press, first aid, reaching out into local Schools/community). We have included a question about this on the 2011 Registration Form and hope that this Event will be another opportunity for people to find out more about how they might be able to get involved. Please don’t be shy at coming forward.
- We are now restocked with NMCC embroidered cricket shirts and trousers in all sizes. This Event will be the best time to buy kit as the ‘shop’ will not always be open on Saturday mornings.
Volunteers' Morning
Saturday 16th April 2011 , 10am-12 noon
- Depending on the level of interest received, we are planning to hold this Session for those willing to become involved in running our Colts. The current intention is to run short workshops covering the basics of cricket coaching, umpiring scoring and on ‘how North Midd is run’ currently and where the stresses and strains are. People attending could then select the workshop of most interest to them.
- On the coaching front during the Winter more North Midd Mums, Dads and siblings attended ECB and other Coaching Courses, increasing our number of accredited Coaches to about 40. With increased recruitment and interest we still need more helpers/coaches to avoid turning keen young cricketers away. It is not necessary to have played cricket yourself and it’s great fun being part of our coaching team. If you are able to help (occasionally or more regularly) please make this known either on the Registration Form or at the Registration Evening.
North Midd / Spirit of Cricket
- One of North Midd’s published Development Goals is ‘to be recognised internally and externally as friendly, inclusive, committed and collegiate with a great Club spirit’.
- A key element in achieving that Goal is the way all connected to North Midd conduct themselves both on and off the field. As part of our ECB Clubmark accreditation we have published Codes of Conduct for players, parents/carers and coaches. These can be accessed on the Website – click on ‘Colts’ and then on ‘Documents’ and will be printed in our Fixture Book Please read and live up to them even at times of disappointment and others are failing to do so – they are so important for maintaining the culture of North Midd and the spirit of the very special game we all love - “Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its Laws but also within the Spirit of the Game”.
Any queries on anything about the Colts’ section please contact Richard Nicoll, preferably out of office hours. Enjoy the Summer and ‘Go the Midd’!
