The Shepherds Cot Academy League 2011

Format and playing regulations

The League

    • The league shall be played between a four teams representing Crouch End CC (incorporating Islington CC Colts), Hornsey CC, North London CC and North Middlesex CC, each playing the other three teams in both home and away fixtures.
    • Games shall be played on Sunday afternoons, starting at 1.30pm, except for the play off finals day which will start at 12.30pm.
    • The aim of establishing the league is to give opportunities to junior club members of an appropriate standard to participate fully in a longer form of the game to enable them to develop their cricketing skills and to encourage them to continue in the game at senior level.
    • Senior players who take part in games shall endeavour to further these aims in their conduct on and off the field.

The Games

    • ECB guidelines and each club’s own rules concerning the protection of young players shall be followed in all aspects of the game and transport to and from games.
    • Each team shall provide a scorer and an umpire.
    • A tea fee of £35 per game will be paid by the away team to the home team to cover the cost of the provision of tea.
    • Both the home and away team shall supply and use one league grade new ball per game.

Composition of Teams

    • Teams shall be composed of
      • a maximum of three Senior players ie born on or before 31st August 1992 (Note that anyone who has represented their Club’s League 1st XI that season is classed as a Senior player even if an U18 or younger)
      • a minimum of eight players who are under 18 ie born on or after 1st September 1992, of whom
      • a minimum of three players are under 15 ie born on or after 1st September 1995
  • Only players registered to a participating club may represent that club. No player may represent two participating clubs.
  • The ages of all players shall be declared on a game card before play begins and the card shall be made available to the umpires.
  • Under 12 age group players* and younger should not play in open age competitive cricket.
  • Under 13 age group players* can play in open age group competitive cricket, (i.e. players aged 12 and over) if considered by a qualified Level 2 coach or above that it is appropriate for their development.
  • Under 13 players* will need prior explicit written parental consent to play as this recognises the need for parents or guardians to be aware of the significance of allowing their young child to participate in open age competitive cricket rather than purely junior cricket.
  • Over 13 year old players* are free to play open age cricket.
  • *Junior cricket age groups are set by the age of the player on the 31st August preceding the season of play

  • Playing Regulations

      • The current laws of cricket shall apply, except:

      • Senior players shall retire out upon reaching 50 runs
      • No player may bowl more than 8 overs (reduced pro rata if overall overs reduced). This is further restricted to 6 overs for Senior players.

  • Results and Bonus Points

      • The team scoring most runs shall be the winner and will be awarded 20 points.
      • If the scores are level the result shall be a tie and 10 points will be awarded to each team, regardless of wickets lost.
      • If bad weather prevents a game starting or being completed, the teams shall be awarded 8 points each.
      • For losing sides only; one bowling bonus point shall be awarded for taking their opponents 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th wicket (maximum of 5 points) and one batting bonus point for scoring each of 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 runs in their own innings (maximum of 5 points).  No pro-rata reductions in bonus points targets shall apply for reduced overs games.
