Academy League Finals Day and Under 12 Challenge
Our Academy Team is through to the first place play off match to be held at the Midd on Sunday afternoon 5th September. Our opponents will be Hornsey. In the morning our Under 12s will be playing Hornsey in a Challenge match. There will be a BBQ (again run by us) around lunchtime with the Bar and Restaurant open all day. On the other pitch North London will be playing Crouch End for 3rd place in the afternoon with their Under 12s playing in the morning. Our Academy Team ,inspired and mentored by our outstanding overseas player, Darren Eckford, and manager Steve Nurse, have played some tremendous cricket this Summer. Hornsey are very strong so it should be a game worth watching.
Colts’ Saturday Practice Sessions
These have now finished for the Summer. In recent weeks we have run some informal practices for those turning up but with a hectic weekend ahead these are also now finishing. If any age Group coaches decide to put on their own practices will leave it to them to notify their squads direct.
Colts' Club Day/Slog Challenge 2010 – Saturday 11th September
As noted in the fixture book and earlier Newsletters this will be held on Saturday 11th September starting mid/late morning and running through the afternoon with a BBQ (run by us not the Pavilion so help appreciated) and presentation of age Group and Club awards around 6pm. Definite timings and further details will follow but the format will probably be similar to previous years with the emphasis on covering the ground in white and having as many Colts as possible in action as often as possible throughout the day. We will be running comps for our thriving Girls Section as well. Please save the date and come along in numbers.
Colts’ Indoor Leagues and Practices 2010/2011
Info about these will be circulated to Colts’ members in late September. The Leagues will start before Christmas and the practices after Christmas.

Coaching Courses
As always we want to encourage more playing members, parents, other family members and older siblings to become involved with coaching our Colts. Now is the time to sign up for one of the Coaching Courses run by Middlesex Cricket Board through the Winter. Some of these run over 3 days - some are one day affairs. Would anybody interested who has not already contacted Richard Nicoll please do so. Only about 3 people have put their hands up so far which is far fewer than in recent years. Coupled with some planned retirements this is a worry. If our Coach numbers go down we will have to consider limiting our Colts' numbers which we hate doing. The Courses are great fun - please try to make time for them.
Course for Deaf Children
Sponsored by law firm Reed Smith, North Midd is running a 4 day course for children from the North London Deaf Children’s Association. Darren Eckford is in charge of the coaching helped by other Club members and signers provided by the Association. This initiative is in line with the Club’s Development Plan objectives which include working more closely with local schools and disability Groups. This season we have also hosted events/made pitches available for local schools. The Pavilion have been very supportive in these efforts.
