England win by 7 wickets - now likely to meet Australia in Quarter Final

Delayed journey but here now in Queenstown. Linking up with Hollmans, Julia Bamber plus Parslow and Beltz to support our Ethan and Luke

Ethan and his opening bowler partner Dillon Pennington reduced Bangladesh to 27 for 4 after 8 overs. Ethan's bowled really well and finished with figures of 3 for 19 off 6.

Bangladesh rallied mid innings but then lost wickets rapidly to finish on 175 all out in 49.2 overs. Luke took the last wicket. On a pitch offering little turn his figures were 1 for 36 off 7.2 overs.

England in their reply were 49 for 3 at one stage. But then a fine undefeated partnership of 128 between skipper Harry Brook from Yorkshire (102 not out) and Euan Woods from Surrey via Berkshire (48 not out) secured a comfortable victory with more than 20 overs to spare.

Next Group match for England is v Canada starting at 9.30 pm London time on Friday 19 Jan (not televised). If they win that the likelihood is a quarter final ko match v Australia starting 9.30pm London time on Tues 21 Jan in Queenstown where England have been based to date. That game will be televised.

The group pic is of our two heroes with supporters Groundsman Oz, James Parslow (our 2017 and 2018 overseas player and coach) and James Beltz (NMCC player, helicopter pilot and general good guy).
