Midd stars feature as England U19s win four from four in S Africa
Another 4fer for Luke; a red inker for ET in International Tri-Series. England through to the Final.
The Midd’s Luke Hollman (still only Under 17) and Ethan Bamber (Under 19) continue to feature for England Young Lions (Under 19s) in three-team international Tournament being played in South Africa.
In the Team Photo ET and Luke are on the back row second and third from left respectively. .
Following on from his 4 wickets against Namibia in the opening game (see separate news item), Luke took 4 for 30 off 9 overs against South Africa on 3 December. England won the match by 123 runs. Ethan opened the bowling for England and finished with figures of 0 for 22. Neither Luke nor ET were called upon to bat.
The third game on 6 December saw England beat Namibia again, this time by 130 runs. Ethan batted and finished on 12 not out. He then bowled 5 tight overs with figures of 0 for 21. Luke did not play in this match.
Neither Luke nor ET played in the final round robin match against hosts South Africa on 7 December. England won this by 8 wickets.
So after 4 matches England remain unbeaten and are through to the Final on Sunday 10 December. The final will be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. We don’t know yet if ET and Luke will be selected.
This Tournament is a precursor to the U19 World Cup to be played in New Zealand after Christmas. The England Squad for that event is likely to be selected early in the week commencing 11 December.
