We played Teddington in the Middlesex Plate Final at Ealing yesterday. Skipper Joe Cracknell won the toss and elected to bat. Some aggressive batting from Luke Hollman (55 retired) , Max Harris and the Skipper (20 plus each) put us in a good position at the halfway stage. After wickets fell, Henry Howeld and Hugh Teesdale played with discretion to keep the score ticking. Hugh finished our innings with a superb and match defining bomb to set Teddington a target of 157. Predictions were that this was about par and so it proved.

Some excellent swing from Hugh saw Teddington lose 3 early wickets. They then recovered but were always behind the rate. With 4 or so overs to go they were needing over 10 an over. A combination of some good batting and some crazy Midd fielding left them needing just 7 to win off the last over with 2 wickets left. Iceman Harris (just flown in from hitting baseballs in NY) took wickets with his first 2 balls (the first a sharp stumping by Joe C off a full bunger; the second clean bowled) to clinch a nervous victory. Max, Luke and Hugh took 3 wickets each.

Well done to Doug Teesdale who has put so much into this Group of players over many years.

Middlesex Cup Final Update

This will be held also at Ealing next Saturday, 8 September - 11.30 start. The oppo is Richmond who, of course, won the Prem this Year. A tough game in prospect so all supporters welcome.
