In form Tommy Nic hits 93 as 1s win Highgate thriller in front of a packed Midd

And as if things couldn’t get any better we managed to get back to The Midd in time to see the 1s pull off a sensational final over victory. What a day.

With our other teams finishing early, a large gathering of Midd and Highgate supporters watched the thrilling finish to the 1s game on Saturday. Highgate came so close but were ultimately thwarted by 2 brilliant run outs by skipper Joel Hughes; the last one being a direct hit on the second ball of the final over when Highgate were only 7 runs from victory.

Middlesex Cup Semi final on Sunday v Brondesbury away.

Batting first, the Midd (current holders) set an imposing target of 270 for 9 in their 45 overs. Tommy Nic again led the charge with 63 well supported by James Parslow (50 ish), the Beast (40 odd) and a sublime 38* from Skipper Hughes batting at 10.

Bron were in the hunt throughout but ended 11 short when bowled out in their final over. Wickets were shared. Great catches from Nick Brand and Tommy Nic secured vital wickets.

The Final will be on Saturday 8 September against Ealing, Richmond or Harrow St. Marys. Venue to be decided once oppo known.
