With the Midd looking magnificent in the sunshine, we took on Newham in the National Cup. Availability for this match was poor which meant our team was a mixture of 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s but they turned in a brilliant team performance.

Newham batted first and were bowled out for 144. Max Harris (Under 17) and Elliott Lowe bowler well early on. They were ably supported by Liam O'Driscoll (what a weekend for him), Alfie Buxton (Under 15) who to quote Sammy Shep "bowled great" and the indecipherable Nick Friend.

144 - no problem - we knocked them off in 17 overs. Max Harris (far left and holding bat in pic) went crazy with the bat ending on 99 not out. He needed a six with the scores level for his ton but could only hit a four! What a knock!

Not a bad outcome given that we were close to conceding the game because of the lack of availability. Congrats to all involved and in particular to Max for his amazing knock.
