It was fantastic to see so many faces at The Midd on Sunday as more than 500 current and former members celebrated the club's 150th anniversary at the club.
The MDL side beat North London, while guests enjoyed a barbecue, live music, a series of activities laid on through the afternoon for juniors and reconnecting with old friends.
Among those to come over from the other side of the world were Greg Arnold, Kit Perera, Pete Croaker, Matt Cracknell, John Vujnovich and Luke Kenna, making a special occasion all the more memorable. We also had 12 men's 1st XI captains in attendance.
Huge thanks go to all involved in putting on such an event, beginning with Joe Naughton, who prepared 19 pitches in nine days across Cricket Week.
Nick Friend led the organising committee, with thanks to Suzanne and Simon Friend, Jackie and Jeremy Walter, Suzy and Jon Francis, Mary and Richard Cracknell, and Sangita Curtis, who all played vital roles in the buildup and on Sunday, while Susie Holt mapped out the junior activities expertly, Ailsa Chambers ran the raffle, and James Parslow ran a superb junior competition through the morning for more than 170 children.
Alex Hill, not for the first time, proved the perfect MC, and Steve Edwards oversaw the event as chair, along with Adam Frais. Club captain Arjun Gole picked up several responsibilities on the day, along with several teenagers, who stepped in to serve food and drinks.
