A commanding performance from North Hill Women’s 1st XI sets the tone for a successful season ahead!

On a sunny Sunday in the Esme Irwin Premier League, North Hill Women’s 1st XI delivered a commanding performance, starting their season with a convincing victory. Sent in to bat after losing the toss, North Hill’s top order set the tone for a dominant display.

Kerry Tomlinson was the star with the bat, smashing an incredible 179 off just 116 deliveries, a knock that laid the foundation for North Hill’s formidable total. Raameen Affan provided excellent support with a brisk 53 from 45 balls, and the pair added 121 for the second wicket. Skipper Gaya Gole chipped in with a fluent 29 off 24 deliveries, while late fireworks from Isla Clark, who struck an unbeaten 19—including her first six, which drew the loudest cheer of the day—alongside Emily’s 7 not out, propelled North Hill to a massive 334.

Defending their score, North Hill’s bowlers were relentless. Gaya’s tight lines put the opposition under immediate pressure, and Lauren McAleavy capitalised with two early breakthroughs. The standout, however, was Anisha Dissanayake, whose magical spell of 4 for 23 mesmerised the batters, her sharp turn at times too much to handle. As wickets fell, the rest of the attack seamlessly rotated, maintaining pressure.

Fielding was another highlight of North Hill’s game. The team’s energy was palpable, with Raameen’s one-handed screamer at mid-wicket igniting the team’s intensity. Lucy Porter cleaned up the tail, sealing a comprehensive victory.

The win was not just about individual brilliance—it was a collective effort marked by teamwork, sharp fielding, and unwavering support from the sidelines. Special thanks go to everyone working behind the scenes to make the match possible.

This emphatic performance sends a clear message—North Hill Women’s 1st XI are here to compete. 1 from 1 with an almighty statement from Kerry. A proud day for all.
