Round up of North Midd News including provisional Camp Dates for 2023

New Overseas Player

We're delighted to announce that Jacob Miltz will be the club’s overseas player for 2023.
He’s a keeper-batter from South Africa, who represented his country at under-19 level (and was dismissed by our very own Luke Hollman in a match against England in 2018!).
Jacob has a coaching qualification and will help deliver our Summer programmes. The cover pic is of him in batting action. Here is another -

Winter Indoor Programmes – Juniors and Seniors

Juniors’ Programme

Our three tier Programme involving weekly Cricket for All, Performance and Academy sessions started at the end of October and has been well attended with over 150 girls and boys taking part.

Director of Cricket, James Parslow, and Head Coach, Paul Frost, lead the programme and have been delighted with the enthusiasm and commitment shown and say that players are making real progress. They are also grateful for the help being given by some of our older Juniors.

Working with Islington Council, we invited a group of cricket mad Afghan refugees to join the Cricket for All sessions. 9 of them have been attending regularly and made to feel most welcome by our players. Judging from the constant smiles on their faces, they are enjoying themselves.
Sessions will resume after the holidays:

5 Jan - Academy
8 Jan - Cricket for All
9/10 Jan - Performance
and run to the end of March with a break for the Feb half term.

We still have some capacity in the Cricket for All Squads – enquiries should be emailed to:
nmcc.wintertraining.com.

Minis

Sessions for ”Minis”’ (girls and boys in Reception and Year 1) will start on Sunday 8 January.
For more details of these sessions and how to apply to join them, please click on the link at the end of this Article.

Coach Cover

Fergal Walter, a regular first team player, and Joe Cracknell, one of our home-grown Middlesex CC pros, will be helping at some of the sessions whilst Pars is away in NZ.

Seniors’ Programme

Sessions up until Christmas were terrifically attended, particularly given we'd never started so early before.

They resume on 11 Jan from 7.30pm.

Anyone looking to play senior cricket - regardless of age or standard - is welcome. Sessions cost £5 per member with the first session free for new players. Head Coach, Paul Frost is overseeing the sessions.

As we look to hit 2023 harder than ever, the message from Nick is “let's ramp attendances up another notch”.

Girls’ and Women’s Cricket

The Junior Programme is designed for boys and girls and we are delighted that many junior girls are taking part. In addition, we ran a female only session led by Pars in December which was well attended. Here are a couple of pictures from that.

We plan to run more girl-only sessions in the run up to the outdoor Season.

With more girls looking to play, and our aim to establish our own Women’s team, we have ended the joint venture with North London under which our female members were offered opportunities to train and play in combined women’s teams. We are going it alone!

More news in the New Year but any mums, siblings or others interested in playing or becoming involved in other ways should please contact our Head of Girls’ and Women’s cricket, Graham Clark (grahamclark85@googlemail.com).

Summer 2023

Finally, we send all members, their friends and families, the warmest of seasonal greetings and look forward to seeing you in 2023!
