Record for 1s; National Cup win on Sunday; success for our Juniors and for Joe and Luke; Conor Nurse farewell

Quick update on a busy and successful weekend –

Friday night – excellent wins for U17s v North London plus our U12s winning a top of the table clash away to Hampsted with a couple of balls to go

Saturday - 4 wins out of 5 –

1s posted 381 for 6 off their 50 overs at Hampstead – thought to be a record. Matt Moran 121 (100); Evan 70 (88); Vanders 61 (44) David Heavyside 50 (28). We won by 70 runs with Vanders and David O’Sullivan taking 3 wickets each.

Only the 2s lost – bowled out for 117 with senior spinner Jon Reeve showing his continuing class and guile taking 6 for 21.

Sunday –

1s beat a strong looking Hadleigh and Thundersley side from the Essex Prem by 5 wickets. H and T batted first and were bowled out for 184 in the last of their 40 overs with David O’Sullivan taking 6 for 35 and Hugh Teesdale and George Garrett chipping in with 2 wickets apiece. 184 looked below par and so it proved. Matt Moran was in great form again hitting 79 not out off 47 balls with skipper Henners anchoring the innings with 75 off 80.
This win means we are through to the final of the Group stage which will be played v Brentwood (Essex Shepherd Neame Prem) at the Midd on Sunday 19 June with a 1pm start.

Also on Sunday great to report that -

Aneeq who is one of our Under 12s hit 94 playing for Haringey Borough.

Joe Cracknell top scored with 47 for Middlesex in their T20 Blast win v Glamorgan. In the same match Luke Hollman took the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne.

Conor Nurse

On a sadder note, we bade farewell to Conor Nurse (pictured) who is moving to New York for his work. Conor has played for the Midd since before he was 8. He was a key player in our Under 13 team which won the National Under 13 Championship in 2008 and has been a regular in our 1s and 2s in recent years. We wish him all the best in the US and hope he will be back to the Midd in due course.
