After losing the toss and being put into the field for the second week in a row, the Mighty Fours were gifted an easy starter, having both batsmen at the same end for a simple run out early on. Finchley first drop then compiled a scratchy half century with 90% of the runs deflected behind wicket before their skipper came out and played a masterful innings of 71*, hitting ball to all parts. All bowlers toiled well on the small ground with the added problem of having a fielder short. Boots took 2/55 off 13, George 1/45 off 12, Pistol 0/45 off 17 (including one which rolled back onto the stumps but didn't knock the bails off!), Brian 0/41 off 8, Gaurav 0/18 off 3 and Dykie 0/25 off 3 (including Brian taking a catch for six), plus three run outs
At tea, Finchley felt comfortable with 232/6 from 55 overs, leaving us with only 45 overs to get them (this doesn't seem fair, does it?) at just over five an over to win.
In the end we did it easily with an amazing century from Gaurav, at a run rate something like 200, with 13 fours and 5 sixes and including 28 off one over. G-Man fell for 102 very next ball after knocking up the ton, picking out short mid-wicket’s stomach, but his innings was ably supported by run-machine Rich Verity with 61 (9 fours and a six). After Rich fell though, there was the standard North Midd wicket tumbling before Arjun and Pistol brought a flurry of fours and sixes, knocking the runs off with 7 overs to spare.
