Where to start with this one? Yet again, the 4s were forced to field a team missing virtually a whole side of regulars against what turned out to be one of the strongest oppositions seen in this league in the last few years. We stuck them in and bowled well. The returning Percy Verity, particularly in his second spell, bowled with pace, swing and aggression to pick up three. At times they simply couldn't lay a bat on him. Alex Harris also bowled with good pace and was extremely unlucky to end up with just one wicket having beaten the bat on numerous occasions. And Lulu Gole again bowled beautifully, picking up her first wickets for the Midd as well as taking a great skier off her own bowling. The less said about the batting the better. The only bright spot of our innings was that Boots turned up to watch a bit of it, looking remarkably well. We all wish him the best for a speedy recovery.
