5s chase 147 in comfortable victory

The 5s continued their unbeaten run with a clinical performance against Alexandra Park. Richard, standing in for graduand captain Charles, won the toss and inserted the opposition. Joe Bangerter and Norman kept things tight early on, with Norman providing two early breakthroughs. He bowled the host's opener for a golden duck and then produced a clever leg break to trap another batsman lbw. The introduction of Alex Thomas gave another wicket, well caught by Tim Oon at cover. At this point, Alexandra Park began to put together a very promising partnership. However a bit of miscommunication and a sharp throw from Ishan broke the partnership with a run out. Their innings subsided from there, with 13 year old Tom Francis' leg spin catalysing their demise. In the end, they were all out for 146 off 43 overs. The slow outfield meant that the chase would not be straight forward. However Tim Oon and Alban made it seem so before both openers fell to poor lbw decisions. Atulla (49) and Richard (40*) put on a great partnership to all but seal the game. Atulla was then run out in a bizarre incident. Richard advanced down the pitch to their spinner who responded by firing it down the legside. Richard dived back into crease, desperate not to be stumped. With his skipper prone, Atulla decided to try and run a bye after the keeper missed the ball. He was sent back but couldn't make his ground. Noman came in and finished the game off with some big shots. A comfortable win by 7 wickets and 10 points!
