The Girls bounce back!

We batted first and made 122 for 3. Alexie and Amani hit fours, the whole team called and ran well and everyone can take pride in defending well against Stoke Newington's two good bowlers such that we only lost three wickets in the innings.

When we bowled, we did so really well. Mabel took a wicket with her very first ball and three people bowled maidens. What really marked us out though was our fielding we did four run outs (two each for Emilie and Anna). As the club's colts coach says, in any cricket match you field for at least half the time you are playing, so it is important you do it well. I have asked some of the older players to take particular responsibility for aspects of organising our fielding and I think this is really helping us all concentrate on playing well. I loved it when I saw Ellie and Elsie pretty much racing each other to retrieve a ball because that kind of commitment indicates they are really focused and are setting good examples to one another. Jess also did a really good job of wicket-keeping for the first time.

Stoke Newington's score was 84 for 6.

Well done everyone
