A first win against Brondesbury for the U11 group

A strong Win against Brondesbury for U11A
The U11A teams faced a difficult match on a beautiful Wednesday Evening at North Midd. Oz had cut the outfield so that it was super quick and with some regulars missing we had a new line up to face what are normally a strong team from Brondesbury.
Malachy took responsibility for the coin toss and won. He decided to field and while we waited for some late arrivals – we knew that they would be late – we took to the field with Ben and Sachin opening the Bowling. The opening bowlers did a great job and between them took 3 wickets for only 12 runs. In one over Ben took 2 wickets and there was a run out and in the early stages we were very much on top.
Brondesbury fought their way back into the innings with two strong batters who both found boundaries to build a better score. The tide turned once more toward North Midd as first Jonah and then Robbie took wickets – 2 for Robbie as his best figures this season – to get into the tail and end the innings after 16 overs for 99 all out. Special mention should also go to Arun who playing in only his second Cricket match bowled superbly to take his first wicket – clean bowled hitting the top of middle stump.
North Midd came into bat with a new look line up with clear instructions to play themselves in and then focus on pushing the score along. Robbie and Euan opened and saw off the opening bowlers before Robbie retired hurt – a ball in the belly – and Euan was bowled trying to push the score along. In came Jonah J, Alex and then Malachy who had all been promoted up the order. All three batted well against strong bowling with both Jonah and Alex hitting out to be caught and Malachy retiring not out for a very positive 12. The game was won by Malachy and Jonah C who batted for a partnership of over 50 with Jonah hitting 41 to tye the score on 99 before being caught. Ben came in to win the match with a nice shot for 2.
Two boys were awarded the MotM for the win. Firstly the prize went to Arun for his excellent bowling and fielding. The prize was shared with Malachy who batted well for his highest score.
