Hampstead 77 all out off 19 North Midd 81/5 off 14 North Midd win by 5 wickets

North Midd turned up with a strong team at Hampstead who the boys had beaten well at The Midd two weeks earlier.

Hampstead won the toss and chose to bat after a poor call from the nights Skipper Nico. Hampstead were on the back foot from the off. Will took the first of the ten wickets to fall with a caught and bowled and Nikhil continued his good form with the ball (had collected a four fer at the weekend for the North Midd fives) picking up two wickets off his four overs for a sparse ten runs including that of the big hitting opener (good catch Sebbie). Nico fortunately didn't have to grow for the second chance he had catching the number three and Hampstead were 38 for the loss of three. Tom and Sacha came on and produced six very tight overs only going for 13 between them. Tom was the pick with three wickets, two off googlies. The second of Tom's wickets came from a rank full toss that was smashed towards the boundary for a deserved four, unfortunately for the stunned batsman Sacha T-T plucked it one handed out of the air for a second Lime and Soda Moment in two matches.

Harry Hayward fulfilled his now regular four over slot (20/1) with his now customly accuracy and Freddie shone in particular during his second over adding another wicket to his season haul.

It's worth adding two good run outs one in particular from Jack Richards and a much improved fielding performance - 7/10.

The Midd were set a very attainable 78 to win and after only losing three wickets in the last three matches the order was moved around a bit. Jack Richards (him of the earlier run out) opened with Nico (took a catch !) looked good but left the field at 19 for 2. Sebbie joined Nathan Laddie in the middle and both looked comfortable. Sebbie has worked hard over the winter and is in a rich vein of form which is added to by his superb running between the wickets. Seb finished on 33 before Freddie took the U15s over the line and and the East Area Cup was in the bag by five wickets.

A wonderful night set up by the most accurate bowling of the season with the best fielding performance.

A special thanks to all the parents who trekked over to Hampstead and gave their support (the whole team had one or both parents there – just awesome – it really does help with team spirit) as well as to Gabriel who, despite being injured for the season, came along to add his support.

Man of the Match - Nikhil (well bowled)
Lime and Soda Moment - Sacha - what a catch !
