Wonderful atmosphere at The Midd with a gaggle of adult team players and the usual parents supporting the boys. The new barbecue was out and put to good use by Hugh and Andy with food kindly donated by Eileen – thanks to all.
We were missing six players from our regular side through injury and other commitments but had able stand ins in the shape of three U13s, Linus, Danny and Sacha T-T (now a regular in the U15s).
Nathan continued his good form with the toss and the boys went in to bat against a well dressed, tall Richmond side.
Being blunt we didn’t bat well enough which could have been down to a lack of belief, a feeling of intimidation or not enough match awareness or maybe a bit of all three. Not batting all 20 however is criminal in a 20/20 match. Alex batted well even managing a bomb and tried to take the game to them but we only managed 57 against a strong bowling attack which was never going to be enough.
To their absolute credit the boys went out to field to make Richmond work for every run. This they did with the team spirit that the boys have developed and no shortage of skill. Richmond ended up passing our total for the loss for 5 wickets, three for Will who bowled superbly. The fielding backed up our bowlers well and the highlight possibly the Middlesex grab of the season by Sacha T-T at first slip. Richmond were generous in their comments about the fielding but deservedly walked off with the trophy.

We have two games left against Hornsey and what should be a title decider against Hampstead, who beat PH last night to go top. Win both and we win the league and get to play in the County League knockout. Still plenty to learn as a team.
