Honours for our most talented younger players; successful seasons for all senior teams; progress on and off the field in line with Development Plan

Like Ethan Bamber, Luke has developed under the watchful eye of the excellent youth programme at North Middlesex CC.

On the Field

Achievements of our young stars:

• Ethan Bamber and Luke Hollman, have been selected for the England U19 squad to compete in the World Cup to be played in New Zealand in January/February 2018. This follows their contributions in the recent International tri-series hosted by South Africa.
• Henry Howeld who, with Luke, was part of the England Under 21 Indoor Squad which competed in the Indoor World Cup in Dubai in September 2017.
• Lulu Gole and Joe Cracknell, selected by Middlesex County Cricket Club as its Young Players of the Year.

Senior section:

• Our First XI won the Middlesex Cup for the first time and for the third time in four years also won the MiddlesexT20 competition.

• All our senior teams had successful seasons in their leagues:
o Our Firsts finished third in the Middlesex Premier League, generally regarded as the strongest League in London
o Our Seconds retained their premier division title, this time with two matches to spare
o Our Thirds came in third in their premier division
o One division down, playing against other clubs’ third teams, our Fourths finished in a creditable mid-table position
o Our Fifths won promotion.

• Ex and current Juniors again played major roles in these successes.

Junior Section:

• Junior membership (girls and boys) exceeded 250 in 2017. Six of our coaches completed their ECB Level 2 qualification during the year.
• Our Juniors notched up significant successes. Outstanding achievement included our Under 13 and 17 Indoor Teams lifting the Middlesex Indoor Cups. Our Under 13s went on to reach National Finals day and finished third in the Country. Our Under 17s will be competing in the National Finals soon.
• This year we fielded A and B entries our in Under 10, 11 and 13 league teams as well as Under 15 and 17 league teams. Friendly matches were also arranged for the U7, 8 and 9 age groups.
• Our Girls section grew in strength to over 50 players, and we were able to field an Under 15 team for the first time. We are hopeful that some of the girls will go on to emulate Lulu Gole’s success at senior level. Over 60 girls played a series of matches on an evening in June to remember Georgia Morris, a much-loved member of our club who passed away in 2016.
• An innovation this year was our participation in the ECB’s new AllStars’ initiative, which enabled us to give 30 boys and girls in Years 1 to 4 their first experience of organised cricket.
• A record number of Juniors took part in our end of Season Club Day.

Ground and off the field

• For the fourth year running, our outfield was voted to be the best in the Middlesex Premier League by the Umpires’ panel. This is a huge achievement for our Groundsman, the one and only Brian "Oz" Cohen
• Several grants, sponsorship from Benham and Reeves and Kiplings’ Restaurant, plus the revenues from the summer camps and from pitch hirings, subscriptions and generous donations enabled the acquisition of new ground maintenance equipment. Most notably two new wicket mowers have been purchased and our own new heavier and wider roller ordered to arrive in early 2018. We also completed a major refurbishment of the squares at the end of the season. Other ground work included the removal of the old, unusable artificial wicket which had become hazardous and an eyesore.
• Our Club Welfare Officer, Mary Cracknell was presented with the 2017 Middlesex "Heartbeat of the Club" Outstanding Service to Cricket Award at Lords by Mike Gatting and Angus Fraser.
• Our sub-tenants, Play On, continued their work on refurbishing the Pavilion. This included the conversion of the western end for use as a nursery, which is now operational. Over the winter Play On are carrying out further work to improve the club room facilities and the players’ toilet area.
