Tributes to Rob Brand as he steps back

Rob has been a force for good for the Club and a core of goodness at the centre of the Club
- Richard Verity

North Midd’s end of Season Dinner was a great success enjoyed by a full house.

Highlights included -

Rob Brand -

The “Simply the Best” slide below evidences our dominant position in Middlesex Senior Club Cricket.

Much of the Midd’s success over the past decade or so is down to the huge commitment of time, care, attention and expertise devoted by Rob.
He first became involved with North Midd around 1997 when son Nick joined our Colts. Rob was soon cajoled into becoming a coach and running a team. He progressed from there to become Club Treasurer/Secretary, posts which he held for many years - he is still Secretary but will be stepping down at the AGM in January.
On top of all his other duties, he has successfully handled numerous time consuming and demanding grant applications. Many of the improvements to the Ground and playing standards would not have happened without Rob’s drive and genius. We all owe him an enormous debt.
Rob confirmed at the Dinner that he will be stepping back from a number of his roles as he and Colleen will be spending an increasing amount of their time in Oxfordshire. Everybody hopes Rob will remain involved with key strategic issues whilst passing on to others some of the day to day roles.
Many tributes were paid to Rob in the course of the evening in particular from Brando junior and Club Chair, Stephen Edwards. To his surprise Rob was also presented with gifts paid for by grateful members to mark his steeping back. It was all very emotional and for once Rob seemed almost lost for words.
In the words of a senior member, Rob has been a force of good for the Club and a core of goodness at the centre of the Club.
