Indoor Season finishes on a high note with younger players contributing in both teams

Great fielding and mature batting saw us home in a tense Final
- Jonathan Francis

Great day for the Midd on Sunday at PlayOn, Whitechapel when our U13 and 15s lifted their respective Middlesex Indoor League Trophies.

Our victorious U13s with coaches Jonathan Francis and Adam Frais are shown on the pic.

This same team finished second in the U13 tournament last year and third in the U12 the year before.

Finals day kicked off with two group matches against Stoke Newington Bs and Stanmore. The team started slowly but improved dramatically through the day. Comfortable wins in both games helped by good catches by Nico and Raffy, tight bowling by Will and Tom and intelligent batting by Bish.

Finishing top of the group meant a showdown in the Final against the old foe, Stoke Newington A.

The Final was a low scoring, very tense match played in an excellent sporting atmosphere. North Midd had already lost by large margins twice against the well drilled and competitive SN team earlier this season. However, after a slice of pizza and some chips (thanks Biddu) the boys were invited to field and played magnificently. The fielding was comfortably the best it has been - catches from Freddie and Raffy didn't allow SN to get away. This was backed up by a series of run outs from Bish, Alex and Sebbie. Will introduced an effective off cutter to take a valuable wicket and level of intensity was maintained throughout the full complement of 12 overs.

North Midd faced an attainable 30 to win, SN immediately applied huge amounts of pressure. The North Midd boys (including five U12s) coped admirably despite losing wickets at some vital times. Bish and Nico needed six to overtake the SN total and some very mature and thoughtful batting took the score to 40.

Under 17s

in conrast, our 17s won all their games comfortably. This was impressive in the first two games where we had a young team with Alfie, Bish, Louis, Shay, Junaid, Oscar - U15s or younger..
