We beat both Enfield and North London to progress into the next round of the Middlesex T20 Comp

The Middlesex T20 competition kicked off last bank holiday Monday with its usual format, 2 semis followed by a final all played on the same day. The venue was Enfield Cricket Club.

After much harassment we eventually had 11 at the ground ready for the offensive 11am start on bank holiday Monday against Enfield.

We won the toss and batted however both openers W Nicoll and Hughes fell cheaply. T Nicoll (80 off 41) and Tikare (41 off 36) were the pick of the batters, notching up a total of 177 from our 20. A respectable score on a road.

Enfield were bowled out for 90 in 16 overs by our shining colts bowling above their years. Harris (2/12 off 3) bowled with pace but more importantly accuracy, Howeld (3/21 off 4) turned it big both ways and Holman (2/32 off 4) came back strong after dismissing the Middlesex league’s leading run scorer. An 87 run thrashing.

An entertaining second derby game saw North London hammer Hornsey and the final was set up. The North of both Middlesex and London set to dual.

Firstly a big shout out to Tom Barrow, Doug Teesdale and Hugo Thomas who came and filled in for people dropping out, Tom Barrow coming straight from the airport having not slept the 3 previous nights in Vegas. Legend.

We won the toss again and batted. Hughes (68 off 52) and T Nicoll (48 off 31) got us off to a good start and were ticking along nicely at 7/8s. Nicoll parted and enter Luke. Holman scored an unbelievable 78 off 32 balls hitting balls over all surrounding buildings and roads. 10 4s and 3 6s, well played. North Midd 209-2 off 20 overs.

North London showing a bit more determination than Enfield however eventually fell 76 short, all out in the 17th over. Howeld (3/24 off 4) again bowling a dream, backed up by W Nicoll (4/41 off 4) at the other end.

The day started extremely hungover on a grey Monday morning with 9 players however we ended up thrashing 2 strong teams with some very impressive colts emerging through the ranks. Our success in this comp continues (2014 Winners, 2015 Runners Up). A very successful and enjoyable day, thanks to all involved.

We are due to play either Southgate, Winchmore Hill or MTSSC in the next round.
