After some rather frustrating results (see below) real highlight was the BBQ and after party. Great to see so many people from the Junior and Senior sections enjoying a balmy/barmy evening together.
Big thanks to our Social Secs, Friendy and Mary C, and to all involved in helping, in particular –
BBQ - Mary and Richard Cracknell, Susie Nicoll, Rob Brand
Egg throwing – Steve Nurse, Tom Nicoll, Sammy Shep and lots of others. Many remarkable catches – contender for catcher of the night - Under 13 Will Frais.
Dykey’s Rubber Band – Dykey, Joel Hughes, Alban and Hen Howeld who went down a storm in the upstairs Bar - click on video for a reprise.
Stumps – superb triumph for the 3s who employed all their wits and guile in this most intellectual of games. Great scenes on the floodlit outfield!
Jack Petchey Awards - Evening started with the presentation of our latest batch of these Awards which go to members in the 11 to 25 age range who have made exceptional contributions to our Club, to their own development and/or the development of others. Each Award is worth £250 to us. We are very grateful to the Jack Petchey Foundation for their generosity over several years. Thanks also to Martin Armstrong-Fox who is our Jack Petchey Co-ordinator.
Winners receiving their Awards on Saturday were Jack Finer, Louis Gordon, Barney Irwin and Lakeesha Walia. Gaya Gole, part of the Middlesex Women’s’ squad and a North Midd member presented Lakeesha’s award. More Jack Petchey Awards will be presented at Juniors’ Day on Sunday 9 September.
