From the First XI Captain
In only our second year in the Premier League we finished 5th, the same position as 2014. Half way through the season we were 2nd in the league and looking very promising, however a loss of form in the second half saw us fall away. It was frustrating as the signs were there of a league winning team and I was hopeful of a top 3 finish. We seemed to win emphatically and then also lose in a similar fashion. Player of the year was Evan Flowers who scored 634 runs at an average of 40. Evan was class all year but often stood out on his own. We need the other batters to score big runs this season.
Despite the frustration, we accumulated 20 more points than the previous season and have become a more feared and established team in the league with greater experience of how to churn out points, and most importantly the art of winning ugly. The new faces of a year or two ago have now settled in and the team definitely has a better understanding of each other and how to win together. It was great fun last year and as always a pleasure to skipper. With the continuing rise of players like Ethan Bamber, Joe Cracknell, and Connor Nurse and the addition of our Kiwi overseas player Mitch Murray complimenting the wilier and key senior players, we have a great chance to win the league in 2016.
GO THE MIDD!
