Another nine wicket win on a cold night where fielding was poor but the batting bullish.
The regular Stoke Newington fixture is always a good prospect as they are a good bunch ably supported by the ever enthusiastic Duncan H. An under strength SN won the toss and decided to bat. They had a steady start facing Will and Nikhil and then launched our leading off spinner for two big bombs over the sight screen.
Control was regained with two wickets each for Tom and Sacha. The highlight being a booming inswinging yorker from T-T. Nine bowlers were used in all with additional wickets from Will and the ever improving Freddie. SN ran really well and posted a more than respectable 132. Fielding again was only 3 out 10 and bowling was mixed with extras top scoring with 38 (12 wides and 4 no balls).
North Midd replied by opening with the Sydenham brothers who skipped out to the middle overjoyed at the prospect of batting with each other. The brothers cheerful were never behind the asking rate although generously helped by extras (total 31). The running was good before Sebbie fell, leaving the field after putting on 89 with brother Alex. Nico clearly had some maths homework waiting at home and keen to get started hit 21 off 13. Alex reached fifty and sent one bomb over mid-off finishing on 62. A comfortable win with more than four overs left.
Lime and Soda moment - that hooping in swinging yorker by Sacha T-T
Area to improve - Fielding, Fielding, Fielding .........
Good team spirit in evidence but need more work on concentration when fielding.
The U15s top the table and we have Finchely today.
