Nomination of A and B Squads for League Matches - League rules state that where we have entered 2 or more teams at an age level, we must nominate A and B squads etc. Generally, players in B squads can play for A teams but not vice-versa.

GIRLS FIXTURES

Girls’ Leagues – U11-1 hard ball team ; U13 – 1 hard ball team; U15- 1 hard ball team, U17 - 1 hard ball team.
We will also look to arrange soft ball friendlies for our U10 girls and enter teams into festivals designed for younger girls.

SELECTION PROCESS
After consultation with our Director of Cricket and Head Coach, Age Group/Team Managers will select squads at the start of the season and will be in touch to tell you about these and about our Selection Policy. We aim to have players in teams most suited to their stage of cricket development to maximise their enjoyment, as well as their opportunities to contribute and develop. We will endeavour to be as inclusive as possible and will monitor the number of opportunities to play each player is given, whilst at the same time putting out a competitive team for the particular match.
Wherever practical, our Age Group Managers will publish the selected team at least two days ahead of the match. Most players will play for either the A team or the B team, but some may play for both over the season. The opposition for A team matches will be stronger and our teams will be selected accordingly.
We aim to invite players to play in a minimum of six matches each (and some will have the opportunity to play more). However this is subject to availability of the player and also matches not being rained off. If a selected player later becomes unavailable (e.g. because of illness) or a match is cancelled (e.g. because of bad weather), we will try to involve them in other fixtures wherever we can. .
The main aim is for players to enjoy playing cricket. We hope to achieve this by striking a balance between playing to win and giving opportunities for all, while also supporting players' development. You’ll appreciate that this can be challenging, and the coaches are happy have a conversation with you and your child.
In most circumstances we would not expect a player to regularly play for more than one age group.

Exceptions to this include where a player is of county level skill and such a decision is needed from a team competitiveness standpoint.

Even if a player does not regularly play for more than one age group, a player can play for an additional age group beyond their agreed preferred age group, where there is a need due to low availability or where knockout games arise, in which case teams may want to play their strongest available side.

Players should generally train with the age group in which they are regularly playing in a team.

If your Junior is not being selected for matches, despite being largely marked as available on Pitchero, please discuss this with your Age Group Manager.

FIXTURE LIST AND USE OF PLAY CRICKET FOR SCORING

All fixtures can be found on your Pitchero app and also on the North Midd website - click on ‘Teams’, select team, and click on ‘Matches’.

Some of our teams will score matches using Play-Cricket - an online scoring platform developed by the ECB. Where this is the case, your Age Group Manager will ask you to sign up your child. Signing up means that your child’s name and performances will be recorded on the scorecard and will be visible to anyone looking at the North Midd Play-Cricket website. By signing your child up you agree to this happening. If you do not wish your child’s name to be visible, please tell your Age Group Manager who will ensure that a pseudonym is used instead.

MATCH MANAGEMENT

As mentioned, our aim is to manage match availability and selection via Pitchero - accessible via the Pitchero App. We ask that parents respond promptly to Age/Team Group Managers requests for availability etc. Downloading the Pitchero app to your phone is essential – see Section 1.

MATCH FEES

No match fees are payable for outdoor Junior fixtures.
